Background:
Silko was awarded a Ph.D in 1997, from the Technical University Berlin in electrical engineering. Up until 1993 he was employed at the Technical University Berlin. From 1993 until 2000 he worked as a researcher in the field of image coding and segmentation at Heinrich-Hertz-Institute für Nachrichtentechnik, Berlin GmbH (HHI), Germany. In 2000 he joint the School of Information Systems (now Computing Sciences), University of East Anglia, Norwich, England as a lecturer. Since September 2002 he is with the Fachhochschule Ulm, Germany, as a Professor working in the field of media informatics.
Research Interests:
Silko's research interests cover image and video processing, segmentation, understanding and coding. Special research topics include virtual environments, telepresence systems, robot vision and motion estimation.
